They are the two leading models in the breast pump market. They come with the same manufacturer warranty terms of 90 days on parts and one year on the pump unit. Their prices are significantly different. Is the more expensive one a better choice? In this case, the reverse is true. The Ameda Purely Yours retail price is about $100 less than the Medela Pump In Style, but it is absolutely superior in several ways.

1- Ameda Purely Yours that uses the Hygienikit collection system is the only breast pump that received the FDA clearance that the pump has the protective silicon barrier that prevents contamination from virus. Milk will not back up to the tubing. No moisture is built up in the tube or the diaphram.

Medela Pump In Style does not have this feature. I often got phone calls from customers asking us what to do with the condensation in the tubings. I do not know what to tell them except " there is really nothing you can do. If it gets worse and you start seeing mold, then you need to replace them". 3- The Flangs (the part of the pump kit that goes on the breasts) of the Ameda Purely Yours are flexible silicon that provide a slight massage action onto the areola areas, thus stimulate more milk let-down and more efficient extraction.

5- Based upon our sale record in the past, the Purely Yours had less technical problems and less defective pumps overall. The Pump In Style Advanced had the highest defective claims according to our record last year.

6-And the last but not least reason: Eventhough the Purely Yours has many better advantage, it's a less expensive breast pump.

Conclusion: Ameda Purely Yours is a superior product for less money. As a lactation specialist and a nurse for over 30 years, I've been recommending many nursing mothers to purchase the Purely Yours and they have been all very well pleased with the product.
