Medela Breast Pumps
When to stop pumping?
You pump at work three times a day, pump in the evening at home and even getting up in the middle of the night to pump. But, when do you stop? Most women will wait until the milk stops coming out. Yes, that is simple, but it works. Don't think you need to pump for 15 minutes on each breast no matter what. Just pump at regular times so your body comes to expect it and pump until the milk slows way down. THEN - try massaging your breast and you may pump another 1/2 to 1 ounce. This will empty the breast and help promote milk supply.
Combining frozen milk
. You can combine seperate containers of frozen breast milk just follow a few safety measures. Make sure they milk to be combined is the same age (and that it is not too old) and that it is the same temperature. Combining frozen milk with freshly pumped milk may cause curdling.

Breast pump comments from a reader...
From Laura C. "I
wasn't sure who to send this e-mail to....I hope I am in the
right place.
I wanted to comment about the breast pumps.
I have had both the Ameda and Medela pumps. I understand why
you recommend the Ameda, but the power of the Medela is better.
This is what I did to obtain the benefits
of the Ameda with the power of the Medela. The new "Pump
in Style" has the same flange connectors as the "Purely
Yours", so I am using the flanges from the Ameda with
the Medela. It is great! I was able to buy the larger flanges
for the Ameda without purchasing the entire unit again.
On another note, the Ameda I had
did not last long at all."
Thanks Laura. If anyone else has comments or reviews -
send them in and we may post them. Thanks - Mindy. (support@cerean.net) |
